This year has been a very difficult one for our students waiting to receive their examination results and today has not been easy for many of them. We congratulate all of the students on completing their time with us at the College and on the results that they have achieved
It is pleasing that the majority of our students who had planned to go to university in September are now in a position to do so. As always, they are heading off to universities around the country to begin courses in a wide variety of subjects, including Biological sciences, Biomedical sciences, Computer Science, Economics, Education, Engineering, Geography, Law, Physics, Psychology and Sport Science.
Special mention must be made of Regan Petu-Stiles and Gian-Luca Fenocchi who are taking up places at Imperial College to study Physics and Electronic and Information Engineering respectively and Dominik Bogdanowicz who has gained a place on the degree apprenticeship scheme at the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology. Congratulations to them and to all of our pupils who have gained places at university or on apprenticeships this year.
I am conscious however that, in line with national data, 40% of the A Level grades submitted by our teachers have been downgraded by the national standardisation process. This has had an unfortunate impact on a number of our pupils plans to go on to university.
We are concerned about the overall impact of the Calculated Grade results and will be supporting pupils through the individual appeals process once it has been made public, which will hopefully be next week.
We wish all of our leavers the very best in their future careers
