Wimbledon College Year 11 pupils have once again achieved excellent results in their GCSE and vocational subjects this year. As a year group they have faced a number of challenges to their schooling and preparations for their exams, including the pandemic, which they have successfully overcome. The results that they have received are just reward for their commitment to their studies. We are very proud of all that they have achieved.
Pupils have been successful across all subjects and in particular within the core subjects. 37% of all grades at Grade 7 or above and 72% of all grades at Grade 5 or above is a significant increase from 2019, the benchmark that grades in England have returned to.
Over 41% of our pupils achieved at least a Level 7 in Maths and the same number achieved at least a Level 7 in English. 68% of all pupils achieved at least a Grade 5 in English and Maths, up from 58% in 2019, and 87% of pupils achieving at least a Grade 4 in English and Maths. In Religious Studies 43% achieved at least a Grade 7 and 24% at least a Grade 8 and in Science 71% of our pupils achieved at least two Grade 5s.
Amongst our outstanding individual achievements, we have sixteen pupils who achieved 10 or more Grade 7s or above. These include Diego who achieved the highest possible results with eleven Grade 9s; Franek who achieved eight 9s and three 8s; Lucas who achieved eight 9s and two 8s; Jack who achieved eight 9s and two 7s; and Connor who achieved eight 9sand one 8. A further 27 pupils achieved at least seven GCSEs at Grade 7 or above. 58 pupils achieved a Grade 9 in at least one subject.
Headteacher, Adrian Laing said ‘Extremely well done to all of our pupils who have received their results today. They are thoroughly deserved and it is credit to them, their parents and their teachers, that they have been so successful. It has also been pleasing to see so many enrolling into our Sixth Form today to further their studies here at Wimbledon College and we look forward to seeing their continued success in these studies and in their future careers.’
