Resistant Materials

In Resistant materials students will learn how to develop practical solutions to design problems using a variety of materials and equipment in the workshop environment.

Students will look at established designers’ work to see how they have designed solutions to similar problems and will then use a variety of methods to develop interesting and original practical work of their own.

Real GCSE mock practical.
Learning how the Controlled Assessment Task will be conducted including experience of time constraints and use of Controlled Assessment Task workbook
Understanding how to work independently and make considered choices.

Syntax Term 1

Controlled Assessment Task

Complete a 30 hour controlled assessment task by designing a product then planning, making and evaluating it.
Pupils recall, select and communicate their knowledge and understanding in design and technology.

Syntax Term 2

Controlled Assessment Task

Pupils apply knowledge, understanding and skills in a variety of contexts and in designing and making products.
Pupils analyse and evaluate products, including their design and making

Syntax Term 3

Theory/Revision

Preparation for the Unit 1 written paper through revision tasks and PPE.
Targeted revision sessions related to particular topics.

Completion of practice tasks.
