A huge thank you for all the contributions toward our Advent campaigns. We raised a fantastic £4093, which match funded by the government becomes £8187 for Christian Aid. We also donated 241kgs of food to the Wimbledon Foodbank.
Linking in with the corporal work of mercy "feeding the hungry" it has been great to be able to make such an impact at the beginning of this year of mercy.
There were some outstanding group and individual contributions to our fundraising, from cake sales, sponsored 5K runs, sponsored fasts, sponsored silences, and most prominently Dominic McCoy, a prefect in Rhetoric, who had his head shaved raising around £400. £4093 is a great total in just 3 weeks of fundraising and all the efforts made even more worth it with the government match funding meaning our fundraising will equate to £8187 for Christian Aid. To get some perspective on how much good that money can do, it equates to 372 goats or 54 cows, that is a lot of families whose lives will have been transformed by your generosity.
We also more than doubled the amount of food we donated to Wimbledon Foodbank, 241kg in total. Just before Christmas four students and myself took our donations to the foodbank and helped them sort some of their stock. It was humbling to see the great work they are doing, and the great many volunteers, helping feed hundreds of families in need all around Merton.
