Adrian Laing, Head Master said, “We are extremely pleased with the results this year in what has been a period of change with regard to GCSE examinations. The boys have made considerable efforts and maintained a very positive attitude to their studies. This is reflected in their 100% attendance at all examinations in the summer as well as in their results. I would like to congratulate them all on their well deserved success. We look forward to welcoming many of them back into our Sixth form.
I would also like to thank all of our staff for their hard work and dedication in supporting the boys over the last two years”.
|2014 A Level Results
We are extremely pleased with our A Level results this year. Many boys achieved grades above their predictions, which in turn have ensured that the boys are in the position to take up offers of places at the universities of their choice.
I would like to congratulate all of the boys on their well deserved results. They have been committed to their studies and with the support of their families and teachers have worked hard to ensure such good progress.
The boys achieved a 99% pass rate, with more than 75% of all examination results graded A*-C and almost 20% graded A*/A. A number of boys achieved outstanding results. James Waghorn achieved 3 A* and 1 A, and three other boys each achieved 2 A* and 2 As. One of these, Alejandro Gonzalez, will be taking up his place at St John’s College, Cambridge.

Notes of Thanks
You may remember our appeal earlier in the year for Margot the daughter of an old boy of the College who was seeking a bone marrow donor to treat her leukaemia. Thankfully a match was found for Margot and she has had her transplant, it is very early stages and there is a long way to go, but the early signs are looking good, you can follow her progress here. There are many others like Margot who are still desperately searching for a donor, so please do continue to promote the importance and simplicity of people registering, further information is available here here.
Alumni Charity Events
Two of our 2012 Rhetoric leavers are undertaking exciting and very different charity events in the next few months.
On 31st March Leon Grozdanovic will be travelling to Honduras for ten weeks in aid of Progressio, a charity that sends volunteers out to under developed societies to help people gain power over their lives and supports communities to stand for themselves. Leon will be working in rural Honduras to help improve the lives of under developed populations and help teach in local schools.
At the end of the summer, Cian Hanley will be taking part in a 16 day trek along the Great Wall of China with the aim of raising £2500 for the Make A Wish Foundation which helps terminally ill children realise some of their dreams.
If you would like to support either of these ex students, please follow the links to their fundraising pages: uk.virginmoneygiving.com/cianhanley or https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/leongrozdanovic.
can now be used by mobile devices and Ipads by downloading the free Puffin Academy app. Further details are here and these are also available on the MyMaths website. This is an interim measure until we launch our new platform which will of course be Ipad compatible. We will advise you of the launch date of the new site when it is confirmed.
